A UK Theatre and Culture blog based in the Midlands & London.
I started Theatress as a way to talk about something I loved. I already went to the theatre a lot – I’m talking 2 or 3 times a month, which now seems measly but I believe is a lot for a normal less obsessive person. Theatre is an escape, a chance to be transported to another world, to be completely emmersed in a story for 3 hours. There is something truly special about the theatre and there is nothing better than sharing that with others! So I thought I’d have a go at writing about it and sharing my passion with this incredible community. In doing so I’ve had the opportunity to meet amazing new people, visit new theatres and see phenomenal shows and events that I might have otherwise missed. For this I am eternally grateful. I can’t wait to keep growing my blog and I’m looking forward to seeing what the future holds!
I started Theatress back in April 2017, so it’s 4 years old now and I can’t believe how quickly the time has gone. I also can’t believe how much my little blog has achieved in that time. I’ve had the opportunity to work with theatre companies, attend events, been included on BroadwayWorld’s list of 100 people to follow in 2019 and so much more and still each time something wonderful comes along I still can’t quite believe it!! When someone says my recommendation encouraged them to see a show or attend an event and they loved it – I feel so full of joy! I’ve always loved the theatre and culture and having a platform on which to share my thoughts is pretty amazing.
Coronavirus triggered a much longer than anticipated hiatus for my blog and part of me wondered if I would ever revisit it. A trip to see a celebratory concert in London to welcome theatre back reminded why I do this and really inspired me to carry on. So after almost a 2 year break I’m thrilled to be getting back into blogging and I am really looking forward to more wonderful opportunities.
Included on Broadway World UK’s list of 100 people to follow in 2019.
